Environment

Protecting God's creation for future generations is high on our agenda. There is always more that we strive to do, but here are just some of the ways in which we try to play our part and make a difference.

Terracycle

We work with Terracycle, Milestone Design and other partners to collect and recycle various 'difficult to recycle' items.

We have collection bins at the back of church for the following recycling programmes:

  • Crisp packets
  • Bread packaging
  • Pens
  • Oral care products (toothpaste tubes, toothbrushes etc)
  • Marigold gloves

Unfortunately, we can no longer bulk collect medicine blister packets for recycling. However, we are aware of the following two ways in which you can recycle your own individual / household medicine blister packets:

  • Take them to your nearest Superdrug Pharmacy. The nearest ones to Ilkley are in Keighley and  Harrogate; you can use the Superdrug Store Locator to help you find your most convenient pharmacy (make sure you filter for pharmacy services); and
  • Sign up to the free  Aldi / Terracycle Blister Pack Envelope Recycling Scheme and post your medicine blister packets to Terracycle through any Royal Mail postbox - CURRENTLY ON HOLD and not accepting new sign-ups at the moment.

Milestone Design, which is just down the road from All Saints at 24 Leeds Road, offers further public collection points. Click here to see their full range of recycling programmes.

We are always looking for volunteers to help us sort and pack the collected recycling. If you would be interested in helping, please contact the Church Office

Fairtrade

Buying fairly traded products when you can, if you can helps create more sustainable trade by providing a better deal for the producers and encouraging more environmentally friendly practices.

We have a Fairtrade stall after our 10.15am Sunday service on the 4th Sunday of every month and after our 11am mid-week communion service the following Wednesday. There's always plenty of cupboard staples (tea, coffee, pasta, rice, cooking sauces, chocolate etc) as well as a range of gift ideas. Please bring cash / cheques.

You can also order The Real Easter Egg and The Real Advent Calendar from us. These are Fairtrade, palm oil free and supports charitable causes. Each also comes with an Easter or Christmas story-activity booklet.

Eco Bulletins

Sometimes it can feel daunting when we think about how we, as individuals, can make a difference. Our series of eco bulletins will share facts, figures and useful tips to help us all play our part in tackling climate change.
